DEVELOPMENT OF RESEARCH (1997-2002)
In 1997 NES launched a research project "Transforming Government in Economies in Transition" (GET).
In 2000 the Center for Economic and Financial Research was founded (now - CEFIR at NES). Ekaterina Zhuravskaya (now – member of NES IAB) was appointed Director for Research, Ksenia Yudaeva (now - member of NES Board of Directors) was responsible for economic policy research. CEFIR became the first research center of NES. The Center's activities are aimed at promoting the economic and social development of Russia. It carries out research for Russia's Central Bank, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development, Accounts Chamber, etc.

Ksenia Yudaeva
In 2001 NES launched annual series of Zvi Griliches Memorials Lectures. Distinguished economist Zvi Griliches was one of the NES founders and a great friend of the School. He served as Visiting Professor and member of NES IAB. The lectures in memory of Zvi Griliches are delivered by leading economists, among them Nobel Laureates Roger Myerson, Eric Maskin, Bengt Holmström, and many others.
