Biography

Visiting professor at NES and Arthur M. Okun Professor of Economics at Yale University. He is also a co-Director of the Macroeconomic Research Program in Cowles Foundation for Research in Economics at Yale University and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Before Yale University he worked in Harvard University and the University of California Los Angeles. 

He received his PhD and M. A. in Economics from the University of Minnesota, and Bachelor of Arts degree (with the highest honors) in Economics and Banking from the Belarus State Economic University.

He is one of the leading macroeconomic theorists in the world, who has made fundamental contributions to the Theory of Optimal Taxation, Political Economy and Finance. His research has been published in the leading academic journals, including American Economic Review, Econometrica, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Review of Economic Studies and others. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society. He has received a number of important academic scholarships and awards, including the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Award. In 2009, he was included in the list of Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum in Davos.
