Center for Economic and Financial Research (CEFIR)

Center for Economic and Financial Research conducts applied research to promote economic and social development of Russia. CEFIR does research for the Central Bank, the Accounts Chamber, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Finance etc.

The NES Center for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions (CSDSI)

The NES Center for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions was set up under the academic leadership of the world-known economist Shlomo Weber. The Center, which has begun its activities on July 1, 2013, focuses on research of theoretical and empirical aspects of social interaction in a heterogeneous society (such as in Russia) with various types of cultural, ethnic, geographic, religious, genetic, economic, historical and regional diversity. A special attention is paid to regional challenges in Russia in order to facilitate balanced development, inclusive growth and prudent social policies across the country with its very heterogeneous terrain, climate, population, and labor market.

The Centre for Demographic Research at the New Economic School (CDR)

The Centre for Demographic Research at the New Economic School (CDR) was organized in September 2011. CDR’s mission is to raise the quality of conducted in Russia population-based studies up to international level. This includes, first of all, upgrading of methodological instruments, which shall be integrated into the Russian demography via training of a new generation of Russian demographers and through high-quality research conducted by them. CDR’s work is primarily aimed at synthesis and obtaining of new scientific results. CDR main research topics are demographic changes in Russia and in Eastern Europe, biodemographic research, population health. Currently, CDR has suspended its activities.
