The New Economic School (NES) announces the start of an open competition to fill the vacancy of the Rector. 

 

The Rector is the highest officer of the School who reports directly to the Board of Directors. The Rector manages the School in accordance with its mission, represents the School in the public space and makes key administrative decisions.  

The main tasks for this position are: maintaining high standards of quality in education and research and competitiveness of the School in the international academic market; shaping the trajectory of the School's development in accordance with advanced global trends; implementing the strategic goals of the School and maintaining its financial stability.

 

Job responsibilities:

The Rector of the School:

  • Updates the strategy of the School’ development, presents it for the approval by the Board of Directors, and subsequently implements the developed strategy of the School in accordance with the NES mission and its development priorities.
  • Manages and strengthens the School brand,  maintains and further develops the positive image of the School as an internationally recognized leader in the field of economic and financial education and scientific research.
  • Represents NES at internal and external events (meetings, seminars, conferences, round tables, etc.)
  • Develops the School’s academic agenda, organizes research and educational process in order to provide the high quality of its programs and research.
  • Coordinates the work of educational, research and administrative departments of the School.
  • Optimizes key processes in the areas of administration, academic and educational activities.
  • Creates and implements an effective management structure.
  • Plans the school’s budget, presents it for the approval by the Board of Directors and implements subsequently.
  • Organizes the preparation and implementation of decisions of the Board of Directors.
  • Develops and implements the School's fundraising strategy.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of an international recruiting strategy (including recruitment and retention) of the best research and teaching staff.
  • Controls the development and implementation of incentive systems for academic and administrative staff.
  • Further develops corporate culture and manages internal communications.
  • Maintains an atmosphere of cooperation and effective interaction of specialists in the School.

 

Requirements for the candidate:

  • Russian and / or international academic degree; high authority in the academic environment in Russia and globally is an advantage.
  • Publications in leading foreign academic journals are an advantage.
  • Evident leadership qualities.
  • Network of contacts in the academic and / or business fields in Russia and abroad.
  • Effective interaction with various audiences, successful experience of public speaking in Russia and / or abroad.
  • Orientation towards the fulfillment of the mission / achievement of the goals of the School.
  • Ability to make and defend decisions, be responsible for personal and team results.
  • The ability to organize a systemic process.
  • Excellent communication skills (written / oral communication).
  • Personal involvement in work.
  • Knowledge and compliance with the Russian legislation
  • Fluent Russian and English.

 

NES is a non-governmental educational institution. The School was founded in 1992 and conducts educational activities under License No. 2736 dated April 23, 2018 and with the State Accreditation Certificate No. 3014 dated March 6, 2019.    

The mission of the New Economic School is the cutting-edge research and education in Economics for the Russian state, business and people.

 

NES is a unique institution of higher education. The School's diploma is highly regarded in Russia and abroad. According to the rankings of Tilburg University and QS for 2020, NES is the best Russian economic university in terms of research quality. In 2021, for the fourth year in a row, NES retains the second place among Russian universities represented in the “301-400 group” of world universities in the Shanghai ARWU ranking in the subject “Economics”. The School was ranked the 18th in the world ranking of universities, whose graduates enter the PhD programs in Economics of the 20 best universities in America. This year, more than 500 students study at 5 NES programs; the School employs more than 60 professors and researchers.
