The NES 25th Anniversary Conference
CENTER for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions


May 23, 2014. NES signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). KIT is a public corporation according to the legislation of the state of Baden-W?rttemberg. It fulfills the mission of a university and the mission of a national research center of the Helmholtz Association. Research activities focus on energy, the natural and built environment as well as on society and technology and cover the whole range extending from fundamental aspects to application. With about 9000 employees, including nearly 6000 staff members in the science and education sector, and 24000 students, KIT is one of the biggest research and education institutions in Europe. 

On May 19, 2014 at DK ZIL Professor Robert John Aumann (Hebrew University of Jerusalem, 2005 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics)  presented the lecture "Economics of Talmud".
Before the lecture NES Vice-Rector Dr. Kasabieva and HU Vice-Rector Dr. Shagrir signed the
Memorandum of Understanding between Hebrew University of Jerusalem and New Economic School in Moscow.
This is a new development in cooperation between the two universities that started in 1992.

Professor Russell Pittman (DOJ, USA, NES visiting professor from 2003) gave a presentation "What economists do in the Antitrust Division of DOJ"

Professor Patrick Kelly (NES), gave a presentation "Considering to apply for a PhD next year? Secrets of Success"

Galina Borisova (Hale), Research Advisor, Risk Modeling Research, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, MSU 1996, NES 1996, Ph.D. in economics, University of California, Berkeley, gave a presentation "What economists do in the Federal Reserve System" for BA first year students.

Degree seeking students one-year tuition fee $12 755. All about admission and application process

Visiting students:

One 2 months course (14 lectures + exam)  $1 276

One 8 week academic module $4 252

Fall semester (two 8-weeks  modules)  $ 8 504

Spring semester (two 8-weeks modules) $ 8 504

Summer semester (one 8-week module) $ 4 254 

Accommodation is subject to availability and the fees will be announced later. During 2014 fees are set at the level of $4 800 per academic year.

 New Economic School participates at U.S.–RUSSIA JOINT/DUAL DEGREE CONFERENCE

The conference brought together 14 existing US/Russian parterships to share the vision, experience, challenges and benefits of cooperative effort. In partnership with the Higher Education Working Group of the U.S.-Russia Social Expertise Exchange Program (SEE), the conference will also address collaboration between U.S. and Russian universities more broadly to inform research being conducted on best practices and future opportunities for U.S.-Russian higher education cooperation. The Higher Education Working Group, made up of academic experts and representatives from educational institutions and non-profit organizations, works to increase civic involvement and enhance collaboration among higher education institutions in Russia and the US. The conference is sponsored by Bard College in collaboration with the Center of Liberal Arts at the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences, St. Petersburg State University (Smolny College) and the SUNY Global Center.
