Burdonskaya joined NES in 1992 and teaches courses in Study Skills, Giving Presentations
and TOEFL Preparation. She received her first degree (Diploma) from the Moscow
State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. She was professor at the chair
of English at the Russian Academy of Science (RAS) teaching a wide range of courses
deigned for post graduate students and research fellows of the Academy: Academic
and General English, English for International Conferences. She did translation
and worked as an interpreter at a number of international conferences. Professor
Burdonskaya got Teacher's Certificate from the University of Leeds in Great Britain
where she completed a teacher-training course. She has taken an active part in
materials development and course design. She is co-author of "Reader on Science
and Education in Great Britain" and a few articles and handbooks on developing
listening skills. Professor
Burdonskaya taught seminars during summer schools and gave presentations at annual
Methodology Conference. When
in charge of ELU during 1992-95 academic years she designed a skills-oriented
syllabus for teaching English in NES.
