ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP, 1999-2003

The basic idea is the creation of a long term (3 year) training and development relationship in order to bring the provincial universities to international levels of quality both in teaching and research. This is done through re-training of existing faculty, training new faculty members, curriculum development, building academic facilities, joint research projects etc. In 1999-2001 it developed a program of partnership with Chair of Economic History and the World Economy of the Ural State University and Chair of Labor Economics and Management of the Voronezh State University. Starting in 2001, NES will also have a partnership project with the Chair of Applied Math and Information Technology of the Far East State University.

The project is sponsored by the Open Society Institute through its Megaproject "Development of Education in Russia", Higher Education Program, Chair Support Project.

There are three main directions of activities:

• New Economic School - Chair of Economic History and the World Economy of the Ural State University
• New Economic School - Chair of Economic History and the World Economy of the Ural State University
• New Economic School - Chair of Labor Economics and Management of the Voronezh State University.
