General policy:
1. NES accepts citizens of any country which was formerly part of
the Soviet Union. Applicants must have a Bachelor Degree, any University
degree or be currently working toward a University degree. Applicants
should have at least four years of university education; both knowledge
of Russian and English are necessary.
2.
Equal rights are granted to all seeking admission, regardless
of nationality, race, sex, language, social origin, conviction,
party membership, religion, type of occupation, age, place of
residence, and type of university education which the applicant
has, or is, completing.
Fees,
Loans and Fellowships:
NES,
as a non-governmental institution, has no guaranteed financing
from the state and must charge tuition fees. However, because
of generous support from NES patrons, many students admitted to
NES, receive tuition fee waivers and a modest stipend to help
with living expenses. These tuition fee waivers and stipends originally
are awarded based on the results of entrance examination. Later
in the period of study the stipend award depends on the GPA, attendance
to classes, participation in research and other aspects of academic
performance
Given
the average income level in Russia, a very limited number of qualified
students would be able to pay the tuition fee up front. NES's
policy is to ensure that no talented student is denied entry because
of lack of funds. For this reason NES is working hard on putting
together tuition fee policies and a loan program for students.
